Find out how to set up and use a membership program to retain and consolidate your community.

Everything about membership

Discover a new way to engage your audience, enhance customer loyalty and boost your sales. Among the many tools that offers Shotgun, our ticketing service, you can create membership features, to give members access to preferential rates for some of your events.

How to set up a membership?

1. Create the membership event

Create a new event from the Smartboard with name, price(s) and date of validity of the membership (ex: Membership 2023, $20, from January 1st to December 31st 2023).

2. Create the membership segment

Create a new Dynamic Segment with the filter called “Past events attendance” and select the event you just created. Name that segment (ex: Members 2023). Learn more about how to use segments.

3. Create tickets reserved for members

Create a ticket, set the price and quantity and restrict ticket sales to the Members 2023 segment.

4. Import members from another platform (optional)

If you already have a subscription program on another platform and want to import your existing members, you need to go to your Membership event and imports tickets here:

For who?

Even though a membership program can be useful for a lot of event organizers, certain types can particularly benefit from it:

  1. Clubs and Venues: Memberships for clubs, event venues and concert halls that regularly host events can help increase customer retention and engagement. They can implement discounted prices but also a membership to pay in advance for several events.
  2. Collectives: Using a membership can help collectives to federate their community and create a sense of belonging by giving restricted access to early bird tickets and also merchandising exclusives.
